AKN CORPORATE DESIGN RELAUNCH

AKN, a subsidiary of the states of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, has been connecting the north since 1883 and, with around 12 million passengers a year, is an integral part of the people in the region. The relaunch of the corporate design was launched on the condition that the existing AKN logo and colours were retained, while the design was gradually renewed in close collaboration with Hi-TiDE™. The aim was to present AKN as friendly, approachable, modern and typically Nordic, in line with the motto „passenger first”.

The new logo guidelines and structuring with an associated grid system allow the design to be used in a wide variety of contexts. This flexibility will be crucial when AKN tackles its future plans for station design, train design and other projects: step by step, the new design was implemented in the various areas, both internally and externally. Examples include the HR campaign “Follow the locomotive call”, which is present as a social media and out-of-home campaign, or the new information design of the TFT monitors in AKN trains and the complex information and routing system in rail replacement services.
